“It would be nice to play with him” – Is major Celtic target issuing a come and get me plea as he namechecks Kyogo?

This is a story  that will certainly run on and on until it either reaches it natural conclusion or it will end up fading away into nothing like most transfer rumours.

Of course, when I say natural conclusion, I mean Celtic finally get their man and there certainly hasn’t been any indication that that will happen until now.

Daizen Maeda is a story that this site has been reporting on since July and since then there has been various updates on the progress of any potential move.

And speaking to the media ahead of international week, Maeda dropped his largest hint yet that he would love to come and sign for Celtic as he spoke about fellow countryman, Kyogo Furuhashi.

As reported by The Sun, Maeda said, “It’s been a long time coming for me to get back into the international squad. I’ve had to work very hard to get here.

“I played in the Olympics in the summer, but didn’t score so I am very determined to do well for the full squad.

“Of course, it will be a very tough fight for me to try and get into the team.

“Kyogo Furuhashi is doing extremely well and scoring goals in Scotland it would be nice to play with him.

“But the most important thing for us is to get six points from these two very difficult away games.”

If that isn’t a hint for Celtic to make a move for the dynamic forward then I don’t know what is.

No doubt, as the transfer window nears its opening, this story will continue to rumble on.
