Celtic are expected to add to their squad in the upcoming January transfer window. Ange Postecoglou’s side are in good form at the moment but they do not have the deepest squad right now. As a result, the Hoops will know a few injuries could derail their momentum at any point of time. We have already seen Carl Starfelt and Tom Rogic pick up problems in recent weeks.
But for their to be incomings, there might be a need for outgoings as well. And to be honest, there are a few players in the squad right now, who have not been able to make their mark in Postecoglou’s side.
One of them is Albian Ajeti. The Swiss striker got a run in the Celtic first-team after Kyogo got injured earlier in the season but he could not make the most of his opportunity. Now, Giorgos Giakoumakis appears to be ahead of him in the pecking order as well.
As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic will try to find Ajeti a new club in January in order to help Postecoglou continue his rebuild.
Ajeti looks set for Celtic exit in January
Ajeti was signed from West Ham United in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee believed to be around £5 million. And he did make a brilliant start to his Parkhead career.
Ajeti scored quite a few goals immediately after coming in and it had looked like Celtic had pulled off a transfer masterstroke. But it is safe to say that his form has faded away since then.
The striker picked up an injury early in the season and has not been able to replicate his early form till now. With Kyogo and Giakoumakis appearing to be firmly ahead of him in Postecoglou’s pecking order right now, a transfer exit might be the best step forward for both Celtic and Ajeti.
