Celtic tipped to sign game-changing maestro after confirmed news – Scots pundit

Alan Hutton has insisted Celtic “need” to sign competition for Tom Rogic during the winter transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland defender admitted the Hoops could do with different profiles of creative players to help bolster the attack.

As quoted by the Scottish Sun (29th October), Postecoglou revealed his desire to sign a new playmaker in January after Rogic’s injury blow.

The Australian boss suggested Callum McGregor and Jota could fill in but admitted he wants a natural option recruited next year.

Rogic has been ruled out until after the international break.

The 28-year-old has been a mainstay since Postecoglou’s arrival at Parkhead.

Hutton suggested Celtic need to shake things up in attack at times.

He admitted a new playmaker would help the Bhoys unlock stubborn defences.

Hutton told Football Insider deputy “I think you always need options. You need different profiles, different players.

“Maybe someone with pace, someone with trickery, someone who can find a pass for different types of games.

“There’s going to be times where teams are going to sit back in a low block and they’re going to have to break it down at Parkhead or whatever.

“You need that within your squad. You can’t just keep relying on the same player week after week. They need to change it up, especially if they want to win the league and really go for it in European competitions.

“So I think it’s a good thing. Competition is always good and that’s what he’s going for.”

Rogic has scored one goal and contributed four assists in 22 games this season.
