Carl Starfelt makes exciting claim about Celtic partnership

Carl Starfelt arrived at Celtic over the summer with a lot of expectations but did not enjoy a great start to life at Parkhead, with several shaky performances early on. But the Swedish defender has appeared to come into his own in recent weeks. And his recent claim will excite the fans about the future.

It was clear that Celtic needed to reinforce their defence this summer, with Christopher Jullien still out of action and Kristoffer Ajer on his way out of the club. Thus, the Hoops ended up signing Starfelt from Rubin Kazan, in what was a pretty big move.

Slowly but surely, it is proving to be a good move on the part of the club as the Swedish centre-back looks like he has found his feet in Scottish football and is now putting in solid performances on a consistent basis.

He also has built a solid partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers at the heart of Celtic’s defence. And as reported by the Daily Record, the Swedish international said:

“The more me and Cam play together, the better we understand each other.

“We are now feeling positive vibes in the team and in the club. We need to keep building on it.”

Starfelt’s recent injury could be a major blow for Celtic moving forward

Starfelt had really been impressing in recent weeks. As a result, his recent injury against Livingston could turn out to be a massive blow for the Hoops although we do not know its extent yet.

He had to be substituted off before the hour mark in Celtic’s 0-0 draw against Livingston and if he does end up missing some time, one would expect Stephen Welsh to take his place in the team alongside Carter-Vickers.

It remains to be seen how that pairing works. Also, Jullien appears to be nearing fitness as well and could be back in the first-team picture soon. Thus, it looks like we could be heading towards some interesting times when it comes to the centre-back position at Celtic.
