It only takes one tackle. It only takes one lunge to end a players career and this could have been it.
Photo’s are circulating twitter and the media, about the aftermath of Ryan Porteous’ challenge on Celtic captain, Callum McGregor.
It was a tackle that deserved an ordering off but strangely the referee, who’s view was clearly unobstructed, only offered a yellow card.
It was a wild challenge. Reckless. Over the ball and made clear contact with McGregor as shown by the picture below:

But when you watch the tackle from Celtic TV, it makes the referee’s decision that bit more incredulous:
The Celtic fans were furious and even the commentary team winced as Porteous lunged in and the reaction of these supporters on twitter was of disbelief that the referee hadn’t brandished the red card:
Porteous shocking tackle on Mcgregor wonder why it wasn’t a red? Oh yeah its against celtic that’s why pic.twitter.com/BMRk46Cak3

I have said previously, why the need to go over the ball in nearly every challenge. He’s a dirty player, end if story. Hope the people that are backing the way he tackles ready for the day he ends someone’s career

The standard of officiating is just absolutely terrible. To not deem that a red card is unbelievable.

That is wild! I’m sick of that lad. He’s gonna end someone’s career someday if he continues this.

Just re-seen porteous tackle on macgregor from last night. Must admit watching it live I thought it was a foul and no more. But on second look it’s an absolute shocker. Guy is going out to hurt people he needs a lengthy ban
