Starfelt among four Celtic stars handed boost as Lennoxtown pictures emerge – Scottish pundit

Alan Hutton has claimed the return of Christopher Jullien to training will be a major boost to the other four Celtic centre-backs.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland full-back suggested the Frenchman’s presence would be a big help for the likes of new arrivals Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt.

As photographed on Monday (18th October) by SNS Group, via the Daily Record, Jullien has returned to training at the club’s Lennoxtown headquarters alongside his teammates after a lengthy injury layoff.

The 28-year-old has been out of action since suffering a serious knee injury at the end of 2020.

Ange Postecoglou signed Carter-Vickers and Starfelt to bolster at centre-back this summer.

He has also used academy product Stephen Welsh and natural midfielder Nir Bitton at the heart of the defence.

However, the Hoops have struggled defensively, with Starfelt, in particular, coming under heavy fire.

Hutton suggested Jullien’s presence on the training pitch would be a big boost to the other defenders at Lennoxtown.

“These are new guys into the club. They don’t really know what it’s all about, they’ve had a little taste of it.

“That sort of experienced guy, you can bounce off of him if you’re having a poor game or whatever. You know you’ve got a big, experienced figure next to you that you can lean on in certain periods.

“I think you need that, especially for new players coming into a club so they will definitely benefit from it.

“They will become better players playing alongside him because he has played in the Champions League. He has won things with Celtic, he knows how the crowd demand perfect performances.

“If you’re having a bit of a tough time, you can lean on a guy like that.”
